Improv Yourself- Improv Summer School for 13-18 year olds

The Old Joint Stock’s resident comedy Improv company, invites you to ‘Improv Yourself,’ a 4-day improvisation comedy workshop for 13-18 year olds giving teenagers a fantastic opportunity to learn improvised comedy in a fun and supportive environment.
This workshop is a one of a kind in Birmingham: it uses the art of improv to offer children a fun and exciting way to expand their imaginations whilst nurturing important life skills. Kids improvise all the time without realizing it – we will harness that creative power with improvisation games and lots and lots of laughter!
Students will learn how to:
• Be creative
• Have a positive attitude
• Focus on the scene
• Listen carefully
• Invent imaginative characters
This workshop will help with:
• Public speaking
• Stage performance
• Confidence
• Team work
• Communication
And all of this will be done by playing lots and lots of silly, fun, challenging games!
The course will be lead by Kit Murdock from Friction Theatre. Kit has run theatre workshops in schools and worked with youth theatres. In addition she organises and run the adult group Foghorn Improv.
There will be a free final performance for friends and family at 6pm on Fri 17th August.
Tickets £100 Early Bird (until 11th August) then £160. Tickets include 4-day Improv workshop, participation in the Friday performance and 5 free tickets for friends and family for Friday performance.
