Jason Cook - FEAR!
Performance date - 08/07/09
Performance time - 8pm
Jason presents a preview of his new show FEAR before going up to Edinburgh
Jason this year looks at "Fear". It's all around us, it can dictate our lives, but it can also open up a door to a realm of hilarious admissions that most of us keep inside. Following the back of two sold out world tours, multiple five star reviews the stories in "Fear" take place all over the globe, making for an epic tale of one man’s journey through his own psychological minefield.
As always Jason’s shows are designed to make you FEEL something. By addressing his own fears Jason hopes to "show people that we are not alone, that we are all as odd as each other. Failing that I'll just end up looking like a freak for an hour as people stare at me trying to explain why I am the way I am"
Since his astonishing debut show “Confessions” in 2007 and the even more critically acclaimed “Joy” in 2008, Jason has gained an army of fans who are attracted to the one thing Jason always guarantees in his shows: Total honesty.
It’s that honesty that has won him awards and garnered invites to the world’s finest international comedy festivals, invites usually reserved for seasoned veterans.
“I’m not sure if this is even a show any more, I think it’s more of a mission. Fear is used to control us, and ultimately prevents us from doing things, from striving to make every day different and really explore this thing we call life. Fear ultimately leads to regret, and a life filled with regret is no life at all”.
The passion that Jason approaches his shows with has also been reflected in his reviews
“His warm Geordie delivery is impeccable, and the occasional moments of genuine sadness lend the show's conclusion an uplifting impact that this reviewer has never before experienced in Fringe comedy.” *****
“an expertly guided tour of emotional territories that many comedians would struggle even to give directions to……. And there's the rub: this show is massively, chokingly sad at times, but it's never even slightly depressing - it's been pivoted with such care on the exact balancing point between optimism and regret.” *****
