Patrick Monahan & Alun Cochrane

Performance date - 06/07/09
Performance time - 8pm
As part of the NEXT STOP EDINBURGH 2009 Fringe Preview Season Patrick Monahan & Alun Cochrane present their Edinburgh 2009Shows
Patrick's NEW show for Edinburgh is called COWBOYS AND IRANIANS –
His previous show MY KIND OF PEOPLE consisted of stand-up stories about his experiences and routines as he goes on a journey to find people like him - a non-drinking, non-smoking, Irish Iranian Teessider!
Recently Patrick was competing in the short list to win the major Paramount Comedy / My Space comedy award. Patrick also recently appeared on BBC1's Armstrong and Miller Show, and Paramount's The World Stands Up and has had several successful Edinburgh Fringe shows over the last few years. He was for a long-time the warm-up act for BBC's Friday Night With Jonathan Ross and is currently doing the same thing for The Paul O'Grady Show, but often actually appearing on the show. He has even appeared on BBC2's Newsnight - talking about Kevin Keegan's departure from Newcastle.
Patrick has written material for the BBC3 Most Annoying People of 2008 programme and I'm sure a few other credits will be added to his long list before long. On the national comedy circuit he's playing the Jongleurs circuit, the Comedy Store and most top venues.
"He has all the charm of Ed Byrne, the energy of Adam Bloom and wild leaps of imagination that are resonant of Ross Noble" - The List
"This gifted livewire commands the stage with a mix of wit and force of personality" - (Bruce Dessau) - Evening Standard
"High energy & conviction, his material is great; he's going to go far"- The Sunday Times
"Monahan brightens any night he plays, he exudes warmth & charisma, an irrepressibly friendly & ebullient personality" - Marissa Burgess, Manchester City Life
Alun Cochrane
Alun Cochrane ...IS A DAYDREAMER (AT NIGHT)
Observational comedy, droll storytelling and fantasy collide to create very funny sort-of-jokes from the undisputed king of 'Cochranian' humour. - 'just really, really funny'.......
Alun Cochrane is a professional comedian in high demand on the UK and international comedy circuit.
In 2004 his debut Edinburgh solo show ‘My Favourite Words in My Best Stories’ garnered him a handful of four and five star reviews and a Perrier newcomer nomination to go alongside the Writer’s Guild Award For Comedy.
Since then he’s performed sell out shows at the Edinburgh festival each year as well as travelling the world recounting the funny things that have happened to him either in life or in cafes.
In 2006 Alun made several broadcast debuts appearing on the BBC’s Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Have I got News For You and Radio 4’s Just A Minute as well as various stand-up spots on the Paramount comedy channel.
Alun prides himself on a high turnover of quality material and is assisted in this by being able to try new ideas in his role as resident host at
The Ginglik in Shepherd’s Bush considered by many comics, critics and audience members alike to be one of the best comedy nights in the capital.
As an in demand studio warm-up Alun makes a hard job look fun and easy and is regularly used on shows hosted by Dara O’Briain, Graham Norton, and Rory Bremner amongst many others.
2007 sees Cochrane’s first trip to New Zealand’s Laugh comedy festival in Auckland and various other writing and performing projects are in the pipeline.
